Greenhouse

Great ideas sometimes come from bursts of inspiration, but the needs of our clients
cannot wait for inspiration.

greenhouse-foltz-martin-sessionAt Foltz Martin we employ a proprietary process for creating and developing ideas and legal strategies that enables us to efficiently harness the years of experience of our partners, the energy and enthusiasm of our associates and the innovative collective wisdom of our lawyers and paralegals. We call this process, Greenhouse.

Once a month – or more often if the needs of the client requires, our lawyers and paralegals come together to examine cases, legal matters and needs from a three-dimensional, 360° perspective.

This is a process that provides an unprecedented continuity of thought throughout our firm. Though a client may be billed only for the first rate ideas, legal skills and hard work of the one or two lawyers working directly on that client’s matter, during Greenhouse, that client gets the benefit of the hard work of more than a dozen inventive legal minds. Greenhouse plants the legal issues we need to resolve in the minds of each participant.

Sometimes the most solid solutions to a client’s problem emerges not during Greenhouse, but days later as one of our lawyers or paralegals – often one who is not assigned to that case or working directly on that matter, sees an elucidation in the turn of a phrase in a New York Times article, or in a scene in a movie, or even in an observed conversation between his or her children, and passes that solution on to the lawyers working on that case.

Greenhouse also acts as a sort of driving range for our lawyers, enabling us to constantly hone our presentation, negotiation and communication skills so that our solutions, strategies and arguments have been tested, sharpened and perfected long before (on behalf of our clients) we stand in front of a judge, a jury or across from an adversary or potential partner during a negotiation.

As in golf, the best become the best not just because they’ve learned and developed great skills, but also because they continue to learn new skills and practice those skills until they are perfected.

Our Greenhouse work means that we’re always able to produce the best shot possible on our client’s behalf - no matter who or what obstacles or
hazards stand in our way.
